SUMMARY:The Role of Enriched Environments in the Future of Neurologic/Geriactric/Brain Rehabilitation
DESCRIPTION:DPTA Summer Lecture Series \nThe Role of Enriched Environments in the Future of Neurologic/Geriactric/Brain Rehabilitation \nOne of the most consistently supported principles of neuroscience is the impact of enriched environments on the brain and behavior of social animals and humans. In this discussion\, we will review what specifically makes up an enriched environment\, (EE)\, how an EE results in changes in the brain and most importantly open up a discussion of how to elevate the social and physical enrichment of your clinical practice. \nSpeaker: Cole Galloway\, Ph.D.\, PT \n7:00-7:30 – Membership Update – Stacie Larkin\, DPTA President \n7:30-8:30 – Invited Speaker: Cole Galloway \n  \nCEUs: .15 CEUs for attending both the meeting and Cole’s talk \n  \nMembers: $25 \nNon-members: $40 \nPT/PTA Students: free \nAbout the Speaker: Cole Galloway\, Ph.D.\, is a Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Delaware. He is most interested in rapidly protoyping novel technology (often DIY) to assist children (and “older children\,” aka adults) in maximizing their real-world exploration – specifically combining low tech and high tech into “Go Tech.” In 2014\, Cole’s work was featured in a TEDMED talk. He was included in Buzzfeed’s “31 moments that restored our faith in humanity” and was named one of the “twenty people making a difference in healthcare” by Health Leaders Media Journal. This year\, Cole was honored with APTA’s Societal Impact Award.  He is most proud of his association with the international Go Baby Go movement\, whose mission is to help everyone co-create their world through mobility. \n  \nClick here to register
