DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n \n1/4/2022\n\n\nWhen:\nTuesday\, January 4\, 2022\n6:00 PM – 8:30 PM\n\n\nWhere:\nWebinar\nUnited States\n\n\nPresenter:\nLee Ann Guenther\, PT\, DPT\, MS\n\n\nContact:\ninfo@aptade.org\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOnline registration is available until: 1/4/2022 \n\n\n\n\n\n« Go to Upcoming Event List\n\n\n\n  \nEthics in Physical Therapy Practice \nThis course will begin with a brief review of key physical therapy documents that supply the foundation for ethical practice by physical therapy professionals: the APTA Code of Ethics\, Guide for Professional Conduct\, Core Professional Values\, and the Model Practice Act. Common challenges to ethical practice in today’s complex health care environment\, including telehealth and COVID-19 related issues\, will then be discussed through presentation and case analysis utilizing the Realm-Internal Process-Situation Model (RIPS). Challenges to ethical practice discussed will also include common business practices of concern including professional autonomy\, professional conduct and patients’ rights and welfare. \nThis course is designed to satisfy the requirement for 2.5 continuing education credits. \nABOUT THE SPEAKER \n \nLee Ann Guenther\, PT\, DPT\, MS  \nLee Ann Guenther\, PT\, DPT\, MS has been a NJ licensed physical therapist since graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with her PT degree in 1980. She has practiced in a variety of clinical settings including acute rehabilitation\, acute care\, home care\, skilled nursing facilities\, and outpatient clinics. For the past eleven years\, her primary practice has been providing pediatric school-based physical therapy. \nSince 1989\, Dr. Guenther has been on the faculty of the Physical Therapy Program at Stockton University where she served as the Director of Clinical Education for more than twenty-five years.  As a member of the faculty\, Dr. Guenther taught entry level\, as well as post-professional\, classes on ethics. She has also taught New Jersey State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners approved classes in “Ethics and Jurisprudence” or “Ethics” since the requirement was initiated in the 2008-2010 license cycle. \nDr. Guenther’s current research involves inter-professional education and its impact on practice. Related work has been presented at the Association of Schools of Allied Health’s National Conference\, the international All Together Better Health Conference and APTA’s Combined Sections Meeting (CSM). Dr. Guenther is also exploring the impact of a program of yoga and mindfulness on the behavior of school-aged children. Her past scholarly activity has involved the APTA professional core values and ethics in clinical decision-making of physical therapists. Related work has been presented at both WCPT and the APTA’s CSM; it has also been published in the PT Journal and the journal of the HPA Section. She is a former member of the New Jersey State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners and past Chair of the APTANJ Ethics Committee. DESCRIPTION:(2 CEs) \nRegistration Fee: $30.00 (members)/$55.00 (non-members) \nThis course will focus on the role of mental illness in physical therapy and the implications of how mental illness can lead to injury\, as well as how it can slow recovery. \nAbout the Speaker \nAlex Strauss\, M.D. \nAlex Strauss\, M.D. is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in both Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. He received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago\, Illinois. He completed his Adult\, Child and Adolescent residency and fellowship at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) a part of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. At WPIC\, he served as the chief resident for education and the chair of the academic\, administrative\, clinical educator track. He is a partner at Centra\, P.C. in Marlton\, NJ\, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Consulting Sport Psychiatrist for Temple University Athletics and the Philadelphia 76ers. He has expertise in mental health diagnosis\, the use of psychiatric medication and psychotherapeutic techniques for the treatment of all age groups. SUMMARY:Pelvic Floor: Learning the Basics (1 CE)
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will introduce pelvic floor anatomy to physical therapists and other health professionals.  An overview of the pelvic floor muscles\, bony structure of the pelvis and surrounding nerves will be introduced in this basic/beginner level informative webinar.  Information will be appropriate for those diving into the pelvic floor arena or those wanting to learn more about pelvic floor. \nAbout the Speaker \n  \nNiva Herzig\, MS\, PT is a physical therapist specializing in pelvic floor health for all genders\, including pelvic pain\, sexual health\, bladder and bowel incontinence\, pelvic organ prolapse\, prenatal and postpartum\, etc. Common diagnoses seen include Vulvovaginal disorders (Vulvodynia/Vestibulodynia)\, Dyspareunia\, Endometriosis\, Vaginismus\, Interstitial Cystitis\, Prostatitis (nonbacterial/CPP)\, Cystocele/Rectocele\, etc. \nNiva received a BS from George Washington University in 1996 and a MSPT from Thomas Jefferson University in 2003. She has completed a Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification from Herman and Wallace\, Women’s Health Coaching Certification with Integrative Women’s Health Institute\, Biofeedback Certification- Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction (BCIA-PMDB) and in April 2021 will begin Sexual Health Counselor Certification program through University of Michigan. \nNiva\, originally from Israel\, grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She currently lives in Northern New Jersey with her two kids and dog. She is fluent in Hebrew and English. \nNiva has been active with community education on pelvic health topics. She has served as faculty for the Endometriosis Summit. Niva has written several articles related to pregnancy and also to pelvic floor muscle dysfunction\, has been an assistant in several pelvic floor muscle dysfunction and pregnancy courses. \nNiva has attended abundant courses and conferences on pelvic floor muscle dysfunction and is always eager to continue her education. She is a proud member of the Section on Women’s Health of the American Physical Therapy Association\, as well as other associations. She holds a volunteer position with APTANJ as their Pelvic Health SIG (special interest group) coordinator. \nIn November 2007\, she proudly opened the doors to Core Dynamics Physical Therapy\, A Pelvic Floor Clinic. \nIn her free time\, she loves to exercise and run as well as motivate others to do the same.
