The DPTA SSIG has had a busy year and we would like to take a moment to provide an update on the SSIG activities.
Rent – a- PT Student Fundraiser
We would like to thank all of those who have participated in our Rent-A-PT Student fundraiser thus far! It has been a tremendous success in raising nearly $2,000 already toward our $6,200 goal.
Loan Repayment Presentation with Lisa Ciritella
On November 20, 2014, 6:30pm at the University of Delaware STAR campus, the SSIG will be sponsoring a presentation by Lisa Ciritella titled “Making Smart Decisions with Loan Repayment. Lisa is a Graduate and Professional Sector Representative for Fedloan Servicing. She has 15 years of experience in the student loan industry service the needs of schools and borrowers in the graduate and professional sector.
1st Annual Family Fun Day
The SSIG will be hosting its 1st Annual Family Fun Day. This fun filled event will be held at the STAR campus at 540 S.College Avenue, Newark, DE 19713 on Oct. 19th from 11am-5pm.
The University of Delaware Physical Therapy Program is hosting a Family Fun Day on Sunday, October 19 to raise money for physical therapy research. We invite community members of all ages to come out to the new STAR Health Sciences Complex across the street from the UD football stadium to enjoy chicken wings, a moon bounce, Spikeball tournament, silent auction, carnival games, health screenings, and much more! The proceeds for this fundraiser are going towards the UDPT students’ efforts in the Miami-Marquette Challenge to benefit the Foundation for Physical Therapy. The Miami-Marquette Challenge is an annual competition among physical therapy and physical therapy assistant schools to raise money for this valuable cause. The Foundation for Physical Therapy provides grants and funding for a large number of high level, peer-reviewed research that helps propel our profession.
For the past 14 years, the University of Delaware has participated in the Miami-Marquette Challenge and has raised a total of $43,826 for the Foundation of PT thus far. This year, our goal is to raise at least $6,200 in order to receive the “Foundation Award of Merit” and be inducted in the Philanthropy Circle at the 2015 gala.
